neue Schule, neue Freunde is a (short) chapter book written for beginning German students. It incorporates thematic vocabulary, embedded elements and dialogue. Students can identify with themes and characters as they grow and develop.
The book can be easily implemented with a variety of teaching styles: traditional, communicative, thematic, TPRS/CI and others. It is designed to help facilitate read-alouds, sustained silent readings, student acting, personalization, interaction and more.
There are sections/questions after the story. The Über die Geschichte sections are general comprehension questions over the chapters. The Du bist dran sections are individualized questions that allow students to personalize their responses. Each section can be done orally and/or written and either be led by teachers and/or students.
